Cool Off this Summer with an Orange-Berry Smoothie

There aren’t a lot of secrets or complicated recipes left in the world with ways you need to get your Vitamin C. What you may not know though are the strong benefits that oranges, blueberries, and raspberries have in this simple smoothie recipe. Talk about several cups of antioxidants in this recipe. Grab these simple fruits that you can find at any grocery store and make sure to keep constantly adding them to your basket during your weekly food shopping adventures.

2 navel oranges, peel and pith removed, cut into chunks
1 cup frozen blueberries
1 cup frozen raspberries

After preparing the oranges, throw all of the ingredients into your high power blender. Get a glass ready while it blends because you’ll be ready to immediately pour it to drink once it’s finished.
Interesting Fact of the Day: Some of you may also be wondering why the recipe calls for frozen berries. Word on the street has it (and of course scientific research has proven) that frozen fruit and veggies still contains every article of nutrient in it, even if it has been frozen. Only when you steam vegetables do the nutrients start to lose their delicate importance as a whole food. Go easy on the steaming this summer, and heavier on the fresh, frozen, and blended fruits and veggies.
